Creating Shared Realities

Charting paths to a thriving world.

What is the Molino?

The Molino is an online publication (with limited print runs) that envisions bold alternatives to the futures depicted in mainstream media. The mission is to help chart paths to futures where life thrives on earth.

What knowledge nourishes the collective? What stories reconnect us to the soil, to each other, to alternatigve futures? The Molino platforms these dialogues, amplifying voices ready to engage.

Why is it called Molino?

El Molino (“The Mill” in Spanish) is both a publication and a mission. Historically, mills transformed raw materials into nourishment and harnessed wind, water, and community power—embodying decentralization, sustainability, and transformation, the values that fuel this work.

Like its namesake, the molino grinds and processes. This Molino's material is today’s chaos and the collective spirit it's grindstone.

Call it El Molino, The Mill, or any name that evokes the same spirit: turning struggle into strength, isolation into collective energy. The Molino is a symbol and there are many names for it.

Printing

El Molino will be printed locally in Seattle, Washington, and distributed across the city as well as in collaborator communities that express interest. Our publication embraces a decentralized model while prioritizing hyperlocal advertising to ensure relevance and connection. In every community where El Molino is produced, we provide a dedicated platform for local organizations and individuals to promote events, initiatives, and resources that foster community enrichment.

Decentralization

El Molino’s print resources are open-access, enabling any community to adapt and reproduce the publication to meet local needs. The digital platform acts as a living archive, continuously updated with contributions from collaborators worldwide—from essays to art. Derivative works are encouraged, provided they adhere to non-commercial principles and engage in monetary exchanges only to cover production costs. For example.

  • An urban collective might focus on guerrilla gardening guides.

  • A rural collective might map wild foods and medicines native to their biome.

The Pilot Molino

Releasing Summer Solstice 2025. Anchored in the Molino team’s existing networks, the Pilot will prototype El Molino’s vision through three core domains:

  1. Visual Art: Painting/drawing, digital art, photography, collage.

  2. Writing: Poetry, investigative journalism, science communication, spiritual praxis.

  3. Community Programming: Mutual aid toolkits, land stewardship guides, workshops and gatherings.

The edition prioritizes contributions from academics, students (college/high school), and grassroots specialists, ensuring interdisciplinary rigor and lived-experience insights.
